SNOWDROP FESTIVAL

DUMFRIES & GALLOWAY WILDLIFE FESTIVAL

Date: 2nd - 18th April 2010.

2010 is International Year of Biodiversity and the festival offers a great opportunity to see some of our fantastic wildlife and the work that is going on to care for it across Dumfries and Galloway. This is the biggest festival ever with over 60 events included in the programme. Look out for species such as geese, badgers, salmon and of course red kites!

Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities - Kirkcudbright

Date: 2nd May - 30th August 2010

A feast of traditional performances and energetic entertainment! Enjoy a range of great events throughout summer, including Scottish nights in the Harbour Square on Thursdays from 17th July, Children's Festival, Medieval Fayre, parade day, vintage car rally, culminating in the Tattoo in the shadow of the castle on 25th August with the main performers expected to be the Shotts & Dykehead pipe Band, 15 times winner of the RSPBA World Pipe Band Championships.

Newton Stewart Walking Festival - Newton Stewart

WalkFest - the Newton Stewart Walking Festival - is now firmly established as the biggest walking festival in the South of Scotland. World Ceilidh - Knockengorroch Farm, Carsphairn, Castle Douglas

Date: 27th - 30th May 2010

A world of music and dance in the Galloway hills, featuring top World and Traditional Music at this three day camping event. Workshops, two bars, multiple venues, shopping, food, DJs, children's marquee, fire performance, a cinema and other festival entertainment ensure this is a festival for all ages.

Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival - Throughout Dumfries & Galloway

A veritable feast of the arts, with a wide range of events, including exhibitions, theatre, poetry, dance, stimulating lectures, visiting authors, classical, jazz, folk and rock music, and a growing programme of children's events. Spring Fling - Venues across Dumfries & Galloway

An annual art and craft open studio event celebrating its seventh anniversary. Selected artists and makers across Dumfries & Galloway open the doors of their workshops and studios to the public. Visitors to the event will be able to experience the diversity of talent and creativity flourishing in the region, seeing painters, sculptors, furniture makers, jewellery makers, photographers, basket weavers, ceramicists, glass and textile artists in their working environment.

Kirkcudbright Jazz Festival - Venues throughout Kirkcudbright

Date: 10th - 13th June 2010

Kirkcudbright Artists' Town's annual Jazz Festival offers a full and varied programme. A celebration of classic New Orleans, Dixieland and Swing Jazz in this picturesque harbour town. A Brolly Parade and Jazz Church Service add to the festivities.

Arts and Crafts Trail - Kirkcudbright
